Tman's new game
What do these 3 items all have in common???
It's Tillman's new idea of a fun game. You throw them all down the toilet and watch them go and then run away! By the time the next person sat down to do their business, the items in question had disappeared and the only eye witness who could speak our language was Kazzlyn and she said, "he threw his ball...the white one with the green stripes." "are you sure he threw the ball down there?" "well, maybe it was the gramote" "hmmm," i replied. And we weren't really sure WHAT WAS DOWN IN THE ABYSS OF THE TOILET FLUSH TUNNEL aka the throat! SO when the plumbers snaked out the "first game piece" it was the baby bottle, then out came the squeeze toy baseball and last was the keypad of the "gramote". We all were very surprised....i think one of the plumbers mentioned that he had never seen so many things down there before! I guess there is a first time for everything!
For Tman: GAME OFF!

"and the Geography Bee Champion is...'
STOCKTON HUISH!!!!!! We are all stunned over here, (yes, even stockton...he couldn't believe he was even in the geography bee) because he has really struggled with his maps this year and his teacher makes people who get less than 85% on their map tests join her map clubs and they GET to stay in at recess and discover how much they love maps and studying them. Well i guess being in THAT map club TWICE this year thus far paid off....thanks Ms. Kocher!!! Congrats Stockton! U ROCK! incidentally, the winning answer was Kansas and after he won he asked me (with no knowledge of the wizard of oz) "mom, can i GO HOME early now" hee hee! Now he gets to compete in April on the state level, etc. and you should have seen his face when the moderator told him he gets to study over the winter break to prepare for the big test in April.....his chin probably dropped a mile in shock! He thought he was done....priceless!

MOTRIN MISHAP!
Kazzlyn is only 3 1/2, but she has had more adventures in her life than ALL OF MY OTHER children put together.....AND I AM NOT JOKING! Last night we came home from Barros pizza with my fam and brother and his wife and Tman was running a fever (lovely ear infections); and so i gave him his dose of motrin....the phone rings....its my mom needing the bag of trinkets she left on the couch....i put the cap back on the medicine (or so i thought) and gave my mom her bag. Then i went back to taking care of the Tman... you know cuddling the sick one until his fever went down. After I put him to bed 45 minutes later, i also put my girls down. Then I headed off to the kitchen to try and pick up from our current remodel (that is a whole nother entry). when i went to reach for the newly bottle of Motrin i had just opened to give Tman ....I couldn't find it......ALL i COULD FIND was an empty one. OH NO! WHO DRANK THE MOTRIN? i knew who it was immediatley! it was like her guardian angels, which i believe she has an entire slew of them, were saying "Kazzlyn, go check Kazzlyn" of course i ran into her room and tried to wake her up and Stockton and i both were trying to shake her awake. i asked her if she drank the bottle (4 oz) and she says, "i don't wanna talk about it" Stockton says, "smell her face mom" so i smelled her face and sure enough she had "berry motrin" all over it. i'm sure it was even more yummy by the bottle! I was feeling pretty good about NOT having to call poison control in a while...alas....another call! i am SO GLAD its never the same person! whew! the poison control lady first says, " ok mom, calm down motrin is NOT a big deal" that is all i needed to hear....whew! IT TURNS OUT, THAT ACCORDING TO HER WEIGHT AND AGE, SHE WOULD HAVE TO TAKE AT LEAST 3-4 BOTTLES OF MOTRIN TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL! THIS ENTRY is TO INFORM ANY WHO HAVE THIS SITUATION: IF ITS A BOTTLE OF TYLENOL, YOU GO TO THE HOSPITAL!!!!! YET ANOTHER BIG WHEW! I got to see my reaction all over again when Tim walked in from his latest work road trip to Vegas and i told him she had drank a bottle of children's motrin: tim with eyes wide and ready to take to the hospital says: "the WHOLE BOTTLE?" after reassuring him like the poison control official reassured me, we both LAUGHED. THERE IS surely NEVER A DULL MOMENT WITH HER AROUND!

"Sleepless in Seattle"
Tim and I had a fabulous trip to Seattle, WA over the weekend. We went with Dave and Shelle and we have made this an annual trip. The reason we go is for Tim and Dave to get a sun devil road trip in and we tag along for the ride and have a great time....NOT at the game. They always wonder what "we will ever do for four hours?" etc. Well, we have lots of fun seeing the sights, shopping the stores and finding great bargains and most of all LAUGHING....ALOT! Seattle was so nice and rainy, but not too much rain. We stayed in a hotel right on the water...called the "edgewater hotel" there is a reason for that, and we didn't know it until we saw our hotel from a distance, at a sideview.....its on stilts or wooden water legs or whatever they are called. Not sure how secure that is, but all I know is Shelle replied after seeing it..."I really DID NOT need to see that!" being the "lover of water she is" we quickly looked away and pretended to not see it, AND THEN LAUGHED SOME MORE! Pikes market is always awesome, especially if someone orders fish! Its just a great get-a-way! Now we are back and in the throws of a remodel because of a slab leak......maybe I should have stayed in Seattle and Slept....oh well!!!! pictures are sure to come!

this really was a fun test
I'm a Chevrolet Corvette!
You're a classic - powerful, athletic, and competitive. You're all about winning the race and getting the job done. While you have a practical everyday side, you get wild when anyone pushes your pedal. You hate to lose, but you hardly ever do.

Halloween should ALWAYS be on a Friday!
As i sat on our trampoline recovering from a vicious family water fight started by our wonderful 3 year old. i was certainly glad that Halloween was on a Friday and we had no HUGE things to gear up for the next day. I declared right then and there that "Halloween should always be on a Friday...why isn't it anyway??" we began the day with "orange pancakes and green eggs served in the Frankenstien head one of my lets play music students gave me. Our kids thought that was so funny to have "green eggs...especially since they really did look like brains. heehee! then it was off to School and Fall parties. McKelle had a "mahvelous time" in her kindergarten class. FYI: half day students should always have donuts and breakfast burritos! hellooooo, its 8:30 in the morning! then Stockton and Slaton had their parties and off to home early they came. We ended up on the splash pad, (cause it was so blazin hot this year). Amazingly enough, everyone thought the spontaneous water fight was the best part of our Halloween....huh! Off to our church's neighborhood block party. SO FUN! HATS OFF to the activities committee for puttin on such a great activity and also for dressing up....WAY TO GO!!!! then, it was off to trick or treat. I took Kazzy and Tillman....whoo hoo we went a hole 3 houses. Incidently, thats my kind of trick or treatin'. McKelle went with Jessica and Sadie and Stockton hung out with his friends. Slaton went with Josh and they ALL were completely WIPED OUT when it was bed time. I couldn't believe how WIPED OUT i was BEFORE BEDTIME. i kept asking what time it was and Tim would say "its only 7:30!" sheesh! it felt like 10:30 at 7:30. At 8:30 I WAS A VEGETABLE. But it was SO FUN!
its finally here
election day is FINALLY HERE! whew! I cannot believe how much life this has literally sucked out of me! Not that i am going to persuade any undecideds, BUT i am a wee bit concerned that the definition of "middle class" is getting lower and lower on the earning scale. we have heard 300, 000; 250,000 in each of the 3 debates (4 inlcuding the vp debate) and now apparently in Senator Obama's election infomercial he stated 200,000. then vp hopeful, Joe Biden; decided that actually 150,000 is even more "patriotic" hmmmmm....i'm smellin a rat! any takers on how low they think it REALLY WILL BE IF, HEAVEN FORBID, he is elected??? my guess is 75-100k anyone making under that will get the tax cut...or whatever. that might be too high at the rate of speed it has declined over the last two weeks. just curious to see how low he will go. what do you all think? happy voting!

let the fun begin: its Halloween again!
This IS ONE OF my children's favorite holidays!!! They love everything about it, mostly the picking of the costumes, which we began a tradition years ago when we only had 2 kids; we picked out the costumes the last week in September....that was by accident, and they still (5 kids later)
never let us forget going the last week in September. this year was no exception! One of the funnest things for my preschoolers is the annual Joy School Halloween party and parade. This year it was Kazzlyn's turn to be in the "Hallowed" spotlight! And she ate it up!

Not to be left out of the spotlight is our resident jack-o-lantern himself: tman pumpkin. I have never had a child at 15 months delight in their halloween costume as much as he did today...he loved every bit of it...even the hat and those are usually off in 2 seconds over here. when we walked to the joy school party, he was yelling and smiling and have a great time telling me all about how fun his costume was....except i wish i could understand angel babble.

GOTTA LOVE CONFERENCE
This post is for anyone seeking to know how you can get through these rough times. After hearing our church's semi-annual conference session today, it certainly is TIMELY to have reaffirmed that the Lord speaks today through his servant, the prophet; just like He did in every dispensation that had prophets. I had lots of favorites, but my first favorite was L. Tom Perry's talk on stress and finding ways to cope with whatever life is handing you. He gave some very soothing counsel and one talk i can't wait to hear again and read. Also, another favorite is the angel apostle, Jeffrey R. Holland. It was just the thing I needed. I loved listening to all of the talks and I love the REAL lift they always give me... to keep on going, everything will be just fine and my favorite line...the best is yet to come! In these very troubling times, that is just the kind of pep talk I needed! If you were able to listen to all the talks, I'm sure you were spiritually well fed. If you did not, and you hunger spiritually, i'll bet you can't wait to read them. If you are not a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, please read the articles or listen to the talks anyway. I promise you, you will not be disappointed! The one thing we have been promised is that the Lord guides this church and the prophet will NEVER LEAD US ASTRAY. The prophet will ALWAYS LEAD us towards God...not away. Those are great words of comfort, especially when we look around and see and hear chaos coming from our government leaders.

can we just vote already!
My life as I have known it, has come to a screeching halt, and it has stopped on channel 47. I officially admit I am addicted to the political chaos that is going on around me and I need to stop so I can tend to the chaos of my days without the news on...its a balance and so far, the scales are tipped in the favor of the tv. So my children are running amuck and I am waiting for someone to rescue me out of this abyss.....where is my superhero?????? Oh, yes, I know where he is....a scout outing. Oh well, maybe I will just watch one more day! heehee! My Superhero, will come in and try to talk with me and I am so intrigued by all the political happenings, it is leaving him baffled at times. I told him it was like him watching his favorite sport happenings and me trying to talk to him and him not responding very well....you know the drill. Anyway, I can't wait until November 5th...I know most of you will be saying, "wait, we vote on the 4th," I just want the results, man! And let's be done. I want some balance again....anyone else agree?

Oh, another birthday for me too
Yesterday was my birthday...hooray for another I say! I remember when I couldn't wait for my birthday and it seemed as though I was always the last one in my class to have one, since mine fell later in the year. It turns out, that I am also the last one of our little family to have a birthday and my darling Kazzy said to me today, "mommy, is my birthday next?" "yes, yours is the next one, but after Christmas" Kazz: "yes! mines next!" And I get to relive that incredible anticipation of birthdays through my children since mine is slowly fading. I spent the day in style eating at Crackers for breakfast with my mom and Tillman. What a difference eating with one child is verses 5, I definitely felt like I needed to slow down on my eating, I would tell my mom, "I need to slow down," I am so used to being rushed by my children or by their behavior that I didn't think I could ever enjoy a meal out again. Well, happy birthday to me!!!! After eating and enjoying my meal and conversation, I got to enjoy another fun birthday luncheon at Sweet Cakes with all of my wonderful joy school moms...but this luncheon celebrated all of our fall and summer birthdays, it just happened to fall on mine...how lucky am I? I finished my day with my children as we drove to In and Out Burger (their second choice....they wanted sit down and I told them that didn't sound so fun for me, since Tim was out of town....they agreed). Whew! then it was time for family night minus Tim, but he wasn't this time, because my oldest felt like we should call him and have him listen and participate over the telephone. I wish I had a camera to take a picture of how their faces were really trying to hope Dad could hear their singing and their singing was absolutely fabulous! I felt the spirit, in that tiny act of kindness to involve their hero in their favorite thing, family home evening! It was a GREAT DAY!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TIM!
Today is my husband's birthday and he took our girls (ages 3 and 5) to our ward's daddy-daughter outing! now that's love! They were so excited to go with Dad. Kazzy didn't quite understand that mom and baby tillman were not going! It took some convincing but she decided it would be fun to see all the older girls in the mountains. although she tried really hard to convince us that she was first "scared of the mountains" and then she said she couldn't go because she had "thkeeter" bites! Well, she went and i am sure Daddy is going to have a blast livin' it up in the woods on his birthday! Happy Birthday--You are the Best!

This day will be historic!
Early this morning I called my mom and she told me the incredible news: "John McCain picked his running mate and its a woman from Alaska and she is Awesome!" I couldn't believe how excited I was to come home and meet this woman via the tv news and see who she was. The beauty of this is that no one saw it coming and she rocks! My first impression of Governor Sarah Palin is that she ran for previous office because she honestly wanted to help the people of Alaska. Her first position: PTA president for her child's school. No one runs for that position thinking that someday they will be the vice president......right? Another thing that impresses me is that she is a mother of 5 children (she knows my world and the world's of many other mothers); she is practical (eloped to save money, and sold the state jet to save money) ; and my favorite...when gas prices went too high, she took the excess state revenue and gave it BACK to the people of Alaska.... no political agendas. The big question today is that she might not have the experience necessary to be the president in an emergency.......hmmmmm, the way I see it, Senators make laws and Governors are the executives who make the decisions that are best for the people. People, in an emergency, you want someone who is decisive. She has an extremely high approval rating from her own state and she has been in communtiy service for 13 years. I don't think the democrats view her inexperience as a threat, but they view what she has done in those 13 years as a threat......and they may want to be ready for this 'female maverick' who just may shock us all! And I say, "shock away!" and its about time! U rock Gov. Palin.
FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL 2008
MONDAY, AUGUST 11, 2008 3 OF MY 5 CHILDREN ARE HEADED TO SCHOOL TODAY! EXCEPT, ONE OF THEM IS RUNNING A FEVER.....SERIOUSLY! SLATON HAD A FEVER AND FELT LOUSY AND REALLY WANTED TO GO TO SCHOOL BUT....HIS FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL WOULD BE THE 12TH OF AUGUST. WE SENT THEM OFF TO SCHOOL WITH A WONDERFUL YUMMY BREAKFAST AND LOTS OF BOTTLED WATER. APPARENTLY, SCHOOL OFFICIALS ARE NOT OUTSIDE ENOUGH IN AUGUST TO MAKE A NOTE THAT ITS TOOOOOOO HOTTTTTT IN ARIZONA TO START SCHOOL IN AUGUST! MY VOTE IS FOR A SEPTEMBER START WITH 2 WKS LONGER IN MAY AND JUNE.....THAT'S A MUCH BETTER WEATHER SCENARIO. HOWEVER, SINCE MY VOTE HASN'T BEEN ASKED FOR, WE WILL SUCK IT UP AND SEND OUR KIDS TO LEARN ABOUT SOLAR POWER AND HOW IT EFFECTS HUMANS AND THEIR HYDRATION LEVEL. AT LEAST WHEN THEY ARE PARENTS THEY WILL BE ABLE TO TELL THEIR CHILDREN THAT THEY WENT TO SCHOOL IN 110 DEGREE HEAT AND NOT BE EXAGGERATING!

OUR FANCY FIREPLACE SEATING
This is a blog I have been meaning to do for a long time...well, since May. One morning i got this hair raising impression to cover our stone fireplace. There was only one major problem.....I DON'T SEW A STITCH... remember the famous "i don't sew and i'm ok with it"
So in my quest to obey the all-too-familiar still small voice, i began calling my relatives who sew! I figured if I was supposed to do this, the steps would be put in place for me to be able to get it done. That journey began in April and ended on Memorial Day weekend, just in time for Tillman to be pulling up on things. Anyway, my HEARTFELT THANKS goes out to AMY HUISH AND HER DAD, STEVE CLARKSON, for engineering and putting together a great piece of SAFE SEATING!

My baby is 1
It really is true that time flies the more children you have. I can honestly say that I tried really hard to savor each time I held him, rocked him, fed him, etc. As the demands of motherhood beckoned me to other things, it was the quiet times I cherished, the alone times, (rare) that I valued most with Tillman. I wanted to do things right this time and right, for me, was to make sure I treasured the moments I take for granted because I get so busy trying not to sink into disorder around my own home...keeping up with the other children's schedules was "tight." Somehow, even though life was kicking me in the bootie, I was able to really enjoy Tillman and savor the wonderful firsts of his precious new life. It seemed that whenever life was getting edgy, he would flash me that "t-man" smile and melt my heart. He has a way of communicating with his eyes that is so captivating, that I would forget about the stress of life for a brief moment. So, I hope you are captivated by this little 1st year slide show as much as I have been, making it.

ITS BIRTHDAY TIME AGAIN
Wow! Slaton is 8
We had a great day with family and friends to help welcome the newest official member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints! He was beaming his entire baptismal program. Our family was able to participate alot more than normal, because he was the only one getting baptized that day, until they had an additional child at the last minute. This child was on his little league team...what a cool thing!
Tim baptized and confirmed him and Stockton gave the talk on the gift of the Holy Ghost and I was asked to give the talk on Baptism. Our family sang Slaton's favorite primary song this year: "If the Savior stood Beside me"! It was a great day! Thanks to all the family and friends who attended Slaton's special day! we love all of you!
